The HP (Agilent, Keysight) 4140B pA Meter/DC Voltage Source Combination Measurement System consists of an extremely stable picoammeter and two programmable DC voltage sources. The HP 4140B is highly suitable for performing DC characteristic measurements, such as leakage current, current-voltage (I-V) characteristics, and quasi-static capacitance-voltage (C-V) measurements.

Picoampere-level Current Measurement Capability: Equipped with a highly stable picoammeter, it offers a maximum resolution of \(10^{-15}\)A and a measurement range covering \(10^{-12}\)A to \(10^{-2}\)A. It supports automatic range switching, and when combined with low-noise test leads and shielded test fixtures, it enables stable and fast measurement of tiny currents, suitable for test scenarios like leakage current of semiconductor devices and insulation resistance of insulating materials.

Two-channel Programmable Voltage Source: Both voltage channels have an output range of -100V to +100V, a maximum resolution of 10mV, and a basic accuracy of 0.5%. One channel functions solely as a stable DC source, while the other can generate staircase waves, precise ramp waves, or DC signals. Both channels have a maximum output current of 10mA, which can meet voltage excitation requirements in different test scenarios.

Synchronized I-V/C-V Measurement Function: It realizes automatic synchronization of voltage excitation and current measurement through a built-in microprocessor, supporting staircase wave scanning and ramp wave scanning modes. The ramp scanning rate can be adjusted in increments of 1mV/s within the range of 1mV/s to 1V/s, and the capacitance measurement range is 0.1pF to 1999pF. Capacitance values can be calculated using current and ramp rate, and results can also be output in the form of a percentage of oxide capacitance (Cox).

Flexible Timing Control: It supports programming to set device stabilization time (the interval from voltage application to the start of measurement) and step delay time (the interval from voltage step to measurement). Three measurement time options (short, medium, long) are available, which effectively reduce the impact of transient response on measurement accuracy.

System Integration and Data Output: It comes standard with an HP-IB (GPIB) interface, supporting remote control and data transmission, and can be integrated into DC parameter test systems. It also provides an analog output interface that can transmit data to an X-Y recorder for plotting I-V/C-V curves, adapting to automated test requirements in R&D and production.
